Recollections of Golden Hour in Paris
This piece gives a glimpse into a place I called home as a child. Recollections of Golden Hour in Paris, is a reminiscence of my childhood, using palette knife strokes to make approximate smears as a way to reflect my blurry memory. I chose to contrast departing light and incoming darkness with bright orange and shades of blue falling on the facade.
While living in one of those old Paris buildings, I could see both the sunset and sunrise. I spent hours looking out of the window. Some of my favorite childhood memories have been enriched by that golden hour light I cherish so much.
A girl looking out of the window used to be me. When I left Paris, another young girl moved into the apartment. And maybe another one after her. This painting shows that many people can live in that place at different times but it will always be a home to me.
