Orchids

Orchids can be a difficult flower to grow. They thrive in their natural environment, but stop flowering in environments not suitable to their needs. To keep them flowering, one must put a lot of care and attention to nurturing them carefully, and hope to be rewarded with occasional bloom.

This painting represents the nature vs nurture challenges humans experience, myself included. Much like orchids, removed from our natural environment and placed in an environment that doesn't fit our needs or feeds our souls, we may stop blossoming. But nurture us, and we will grow and produce beautiful flowers.

I created Orchids as a gift for my parents, to thank them for providing that nurturing environment for me and helping me blossom into the person I am today.
